Description PROCUREMENT ASSISTANT, Publishing Services Bureau, to provide procurement support for a fast-paced, fifteen-person organization providing MIT departments and programs with strategic communications consultation and creative vendor referral services for both print and web communications projects. Will process requisitions and quotations and prepare, place, and administer high-dollar purchase agreements for publishing commodity using SAP. Publishing-related commodities include printing, web programming, editorial services, graphic design, and photography. Will also evaluate client requisitions and assist in problem solving; assist procurement staff in obtaining bids, price negotiations, and discount arrangements; assist in resolving problems, working in collaboration with client, vendor, and accounts payable; educate MIT community in philosophy and services of PSB; monitor vendor partnerships, evaluating quality, competitive pricing, and customer satisfaction; research and analyze vendor activity for print, design, and web commodities to help guide PSB business strategies; and facilitate some customer orders by soliciting bids from creative vendors and walking clients through production processes. REQUIREMENTS: excellent analytical, creative problem solving, interpersonal, and computer skills; an aptitude for and willingness to learn SAP; and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with FileMaker, electronic mail, and the Web preferred. Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail essential. Good judgment, flexibility, and excellent organizational and communications skills necessary. Must be willing to assume responsibility, take initiative, handle several projects simultaneously, and work as a team member. Familiarity with MIT a plus. Experience processing and placing graphic arts-related business with vendors preferred. 02-1108GD Location
