Job Description

SR. ABAP PROGRAMMER, Financial Systems Services (four positions), to analyze and improve the performance of ABAP programs and analyze requirements for data exchange between SAP R/3 and other MIT systems; determine viable alternatives; make recommendations; and design, specify, obtain consensus on, and implement solutions. These solutions usually require writing programs in ABAP/4 and possibly other computer languages, and may include the use of the ABAP/4 workbench tools. Will establish project plans, schedules, and status reports; assist in developing and implementing technical standards for SAP R/3; maintain close liaison with data providers and recipients, team members, and other members of the department; interact with consultants to achieve project goals; keep abreast of the SAP R/3 product line; interact with vendors regarding their products and to facilitate the development process and knowledge transfer. REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (advanced degree helpful); and four to eight years of programming experience including an understanding of data structures, data encoding, operating systems, and synchronization techniques. Knowledge of the SAP R/3 financial systems in general and ABAP/4 in particular preferred, as is knowledge of SAP configuration. Understanding of business procedures and their interrelationships and an overall knowledge of technical disciplines recommended. Should have proven history of working collaboratively/effectively with a diverse group in a team-based environment, preferably in a higher education. Experience optimizing queries against Oracle databases and knowledge of C, Perl, and UNIX helpful. 02-1117Q
