Job Description

BIOMEDICAL OPTICS ENGINEER, Spectrospcopy Laboratory, to design/fabricate novel spectroscopic devices for the early detection of cancers. The laboratory currently has close clinical collaborations with several hospitals in the country. The devices use spectroscopic techniques (fluorescence, reflectance, and light scattering) to detect early cancers in the gastrointestinal tract, uterine cervix, and oral cavity. Will fabricate new optical instrumentation and design software for data analysis and data acquisition. REQUIREMENTS: a B.S. and/or M.S. in engineering or physics; experience programming in C, Matlab, and LabVIEW; and instrumentation experience using optics, CCDs, and spectrographs. 02-1119
