Job Description

MANAGER, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE, Facilities- Structural Services and Zone Maintenance Services, to be responsible for managing two service areas and for ensuring technical quality and a high level of customer satisfaction and value to the MIT community. Structural Services includes carpentry, roofing, glazing, painting, and locksmiths. Zone Maintenance Services includes preventive maintenance, HVAC, classroom maintenance, and research building maintenance. Will be responsible for long-range project planning, expediting projects from planning, approval, and budgeting to completion; plan, develop, and recommend new or revised policies and/or programs; collaborate with others to create an atmosphere of participation and cooperation; participate in the budget process; act as a resource for all teams for supervisory and technical assistance; ensure the technical and supervisory training needs of all employees are met and ensure new employees are oriented to the department through formal and informal mechanisms; ensure assignments, schedules, repairs, inspections, and specifications are coordinated and met; work with supervisors/coaches on difficult and precedent-setting issues; monitor all projects with regard to progress, quality, and costs; administer all operations in accordance with OSHA, ADA, and other government or legal requirements; and initiate and maintain a preventative maintenance program with appropriate systems and buildings across the campus. 02-1130Q
