Job Description

HR ADMINISTRATOR, Center for Cancer Research, to assume responsibility for all aspects of human resources management and administration. Will handle recruitment, orientation, the appointment process, performance management, promotions, management of the annual and special salary review process, vacation reporting, layoffs, and terminations. Will also train, advise, and update CCR staff on personnel procedures and policies and disseminate other information; mediate complaints and disciplinary issues; handle search plans, search reports, and professional activities reporting; coordinate temporary personnel; prepare weekly payroll; reconcile monthly SANDI/DINDI/payroll suspense account; assist and advise faculty and staff on obtaining visas for foreign scholars and track foreign scholars after their arrival at MIT; function as parking coordinator, affirmative action officer, and crime prevention coordinator; maintain personnel records and HR database; work closely with Assistant Director and Financial Administrator on HR-related issues and develop personnel and statistical reports as needed; and act as liaison with Human Resources and the Payroll, Dean of the School of Science, International Scholars, Labor Relations, Parking, and Safety offices. REQUIREMENTS: five to seven years of directly related human resources administration experience, excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated sound judgment, and ability able to work effectively with a diverse population in a variety of situations. Must be able to work independently, assess priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple concurrent tasks and competing demands. Excellent written and verbal communications skills needed. Bachelor's degree and knowledge of MIT HR policies preferred. 02-1139
