Job Description

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY MANAGER, OpenCourseWare, to develop and fine-tune IP policies and procedures. Will implement and manage OCW's commitment to a thorough IP due diligence process; develop and promulgate guidelines on copyright requirements; provide training for and work with staff and faculty to develop their understanding of IP requirements/procedures; manage the IP clearance process; work with faculty liaisons and others to identify third-party objects in course materials; analyze objects to determine best option for clearance; ensure timely delivery of cleared courses; develop relationships with selected publishers and archives; maintain metrics; maintain liaison with MIT IP counsel; monitor and coordinate response to IP issues and claims of infringement; and supervise the work of clearance assistants. REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree or higher; five to seven years' related experience; significant knowledge of and experience with intellectual property law, practice, and publishing; proven ability to manage, schedule, and budget in a complex and dynamic environment; familiarity with project management and process workflow concepts; good consulting, facilitating, and leadership skills; ability to lead or follow with equal ease; and excellent oral and written communications skills. Seek well organized individual who shows meticulous attention to detail. General familiarity and proficiency with electronic database and content management technologies highly desirable. Experience in an academic/higher education or library setting highly desirable. Should be able to understand and develop productive work relationships and resolve conflicts. Seek self-motivated professional who is comfortable with ambiguity in a diverse organization. Salary range: $55-70K. 02-1170
