Description SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER, Information Systems, to be responsible for TSM systems programming and monitoring. Will help monitor and maintain TSM servers using tools provided by vendor; manage databases, recovery logs, and disk and tape pools; write scripts to automate tasks; write and maintain documentation; interface with the tape library system and apply service and upgrades as necessary; identify problems that are due to software bugs and work with vendor to implement solutions to resolve problems; provide TSM support to IS Help Desk, technical representatives of departments outside of IS, and other TSM users in the Institute; troubleshoot, identify, assess, and resolve TSM problems across multiple OS platforms (including various versions of Windows, Macintosh and UNIX); provide IS Help Desk staff with TSM training as needed; and consult with users on file space maintenance and assist in analyzing user needs. REQUIREMENTS: three to five years of programming experience; experience with UNIX, UNIX perl scripting, CGI, and APACHE web server; demonstrated knowledge of Windows and Macintosh platforms; and excellent troubleshooting, customer relations, teamwork, and communication skills. Must possess excellent organizational/time management/project management skills. Experience creating simple statistical reports and knowledge of Excel needed. Must show demonstrated initiative and the ability to learn and apply new material quickly. Experience with TSM, especially in a support role, strongly preferred. Help desk experience and knowledge of FileMaker Pro also preferred. Starting salary will be up to $54,000, depending on skills and experience. 02-1182O Location
