Description ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER, Environmental Health and Safety Office, to serve in a leadership role and provide expert advice in support of Institute academic and business objectives with due consideration of occupational health laws, federal and state regulations, and good practices. Will function as an integral member of a multidisciplinary office, serve in a leadership role to develop necessary expertise and good judgment in the Campus Radiation Protection Program, and participate or lead groups when Radiation Protection or other EHS expertise may be warranted. May be assigned to departments outside of EHS, and as skills develop, work in areas other than main discipline. REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree in science or engineering and a master's degree in health physics or environmental health; expertise in health physics; working knowledge of regulations specific to radiation protection and occupational health including NRC, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and Massachusetts DPH and DEP; general EHS expertise; and a minimum of seven years' relevant experience in recognition, evaluation, and control of hazardous materials and conditions and physical agents. Comprehensive certification in health physics by the American Board of Health Physics desired, as is HAZWOPER training. Must be able to manage people and projects and prioritize heavy workload and client needs. Must possess a service and team orientation. Tactical and strategic thinking and problem-solving ability important. Should be able to appreciate and work to achieve the big picture while also being detail-oriented. 02-1197P Location
