Job Description

RESEARCH STAFF, Center for Technology, Policy and Industrial Development, to join the Lean Aerospace Initiative (LAI), a consortium of major aerospace companies, government, labor, and academic institutions created to help transform the US aerospace enterprise. Will join MIT faculty and research personnel engaged in conducting collaborative research focusing on enterprise-level topics and the development of lean implementation tools. Will be responsible for developing and organizing team research and lean tool development efforts; coordinating research with faculty, research staff, students, and consortium members; and preparing research papers for publication, making presentations on research results at various LAI events, and facilitating lean implementation efforts through the use of lean tools and training. REQUIREMENTS: grounding in one or more well-defined areas, e.g., product design and development, information systems, systems engineering, organizational change, or corporate strategy and finance; and ability to work collaboratively with the other faculty and staff in conducting research and developing integrative implementation tools. A Ph.D. in a relevant field preferred, but an M.S. (in engineering, management, finance, information systems) with multidisciplinary industry or government experience (aerospace experience preferred) will be considered. Significant industry, government, or academic work experience in one of the areas identified above needed. Strong communication and writing skills required. Must demonstrate an ability to prioritize work assignments; obtain, analyze, and synthesize information; and interact well with others. Excellent organizational skills and personal initiative important. Must be able to meet deadlines and function independently in a team-oriented atmosphere. 02-1225
