Job Description

CONTRACTS AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ADMINISTRATOR, Media Laboratory, to manage the intellectual property process. Will research, draft, and prepare industrial sponsor contracts for Media Laboratory research consortia and special interest group, negotiate and liaise with sponsors and prospective sponsors, monitor contract performance, terminate contracts, and support the Media Lab's overall administration of sponsor contracts with regular reports and policy alternatives. Will work with a number of constituencies regarding patents, software licenses and other intellectual property matters within the Media Lab and with the broader MIT community. REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience. Two to five years of experience in one or more aspects of contract administration and/or intellectual property administration in a university environment preferred. Excellent writing, editing skills, interpersonal, negotiating, and organizational skills required. Must be able to communicate complex contractual, legal, and financial information to laboratory sponsors in a clear, professional, and timely fashion. Proficiency with Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat needed along with on-line researching skills and facility with electronic mail. Ability to coordinate diverse groups of administrators and researchers across Institute departments necessary. 03-0021
