Job Description

RESEARCH ENGINEER, Artificial Intelligence Lab, to help design and implement client- and server-side software to support an on-line interactive learning environment. Tasks will include developing a system-independent XML-based framework for writing and annotating interactive educational content and for logging student activity for later analysis, extending existing web-based server-side framework to incorporate these additional material sources and interaction modes, and developing an interactive client-side workbook to deliver interactive materials selected from the repository so that students can work on them off-line. REQUIREMENTS: excellent programming skills, experience with Java and Sun Microsystem's Java 2 platform. Experience needed with the following server-side web implementation technologies: Apache web server, CGI scripting languages (Python, Perl), and databases. Must be able to work in a research environment. Master's degree in computer science preferred. 03-0047
