As an activity during one of our free nights, we really wanted to go through the Parisian movie-going experience. We wanted especially to see a French film but could not find one, since the French movie scene was entirely run by American films and other foreign movies.
After much debate and advice-seeking, we settled on seeing the new Robert Begnini (famous for “Life is Beautiful) film, “Le Tigre et La Neige,” a touching story about a love-struck Italian poet in war-torn Baghdad trying to save the life of his love interest. The film was in Italian with French subtitles. We were afraid that we would have comprehension problems, but our fears proved to be unfounded, as we all thoroughly enjoyed the movie and were inspired by the main character’s resilient optimism despite all the destruction and sadness that surround him.
