La Comédie Française: Les Fables de la Fontaine

This play is one of France’s most traditional pieces. Most French people know “Les Fables de la Fontaine” from childhood. The fables are written in prose and use 17th century vocabulary, making them difficult to follow. The acts themselves, however, are very well presented with simple sceneries and little modification to the original fables, making their content even more vibrant and effective on stage. This piece is reminiscent of everyone’s childhood, regardless of culture, so be prepared to laugh and smile without a care in the world.
