La Coupole

Our first dinner as a complete group took place at La Coupole, a famous brasserie in Montparnasse. Historically, it was a hangout of Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, as well as other artists. Several members of our group ordered the choucroute garnie, sauerkraut topped with lots of sausage, upon the recommendation of Isabelle, and all were impressed. The other dishes ranged from fish to foie gras to steak tartare, and for the most part people were satisfied with their food.

The highlight of the meal, however, was the dessert, as the restaurant has a large selection. Many of the desserts were ice cream based, such as a frozen Grand Marnier Souffle and a macaron filled with Irish cream ice cream, whipped cream, and glacéed chestnuts. (Alona and Tess)
