Harvard University celebrates the 50th anniversary of the landmark United States Supreme Court civil rights case, Brown v. Board of Education, with panel discussions sponsored by Harvard Law School and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. This celebration presents opportunities to hear discussions with several of the 1954 attorneys who argued the case before the Supreme Court, and to hear their reflections on the impact of the decision 50 years later. Also featured are distinguished educators and lawyers, concerned with equal justice, discussing the impact of desegregation.

Alumni Education
Africa Challenged: an investigation into the political, socioeconomic, and environmental concerns of contemporary southern Africa with Robert Rotberg of the Kennedy School's Program on Intrastate Conflict, March 15-30, 2005. Designed in association with Robert Rotberg, this unique program travels through South Africa, Botswana, and Zambia, exploring the beauty of the southern African region while also investigating issues confronting the region.

Kennedy School Faculty in the News
From mid-September to November 3, approximately 40 network television interviews with KSG faculty on election-related topics were conducted in the Kennedy School television studio. Faculty participants included David Gergen, David King, Elaine Kamarck, Phil Sharp, Tom Patterson, Steve Kelman, Alex Jones, and Alex Keyssar. Networks included CNN, CNN Financial News, Fox News, CNBC, MSNBC, C-SPAN, Reuters Television, CNN International, Swedish Television, CBC (Canada), and Alhurra Television (Middle East).

Right of Eminent Domain Challenged
This past September, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear a case brought by Susette Kelo and six of her fellow homeowners in the Fort Trumbull neighborhood of New London, Connecticut, challenging the right of municipal authorities to take their houses by eminent domain.
