Dear Friend of Shakespeare & Company:

"monumental poise…instinctive, exotic poetry…crisp…molten"
- The New York Times

"passionate and questioning... lively and full-spirited"
- The Boston Globe

“Fun”
"hilarious“
“inspired craziness”
"a solid good time"

- It's unanimous!

As August unwinds, we want to take a moment to thank you for helping make this a wonderful summer at Shakespeare & Company. We hope you left our theaters having discovered at least one thing new about yourself and the world around us.

Shakespeare & Company was built on a founding principle: to give the positive effects of theatre to the widest audience possible, by making it accessible and affordable to everyone. With economic news being what it is, we are especially proud to have been able to accomplish that this summer. We kept ticket prices as low as $10 and the response was terrific.

We will always present luminous theatre. Speak the best language. Welcome the world and price the seats for everyone. If you are not already a member, please take a minute to join us on this mission. If you are already a member, invite a friend to join—and don’t forget to renew!

Working together, we will continue to bring the best Shakespeare and challenging new voices to new audiences, to provide programs like Riotous Youth, Shakespeare & Young Company and the Fall Festival of Shakespeare (celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year!), and offer world class artistic training to the next generation of theatre artists.

As a member you’ll receive benefits, privileges and special invitations to behind the scenes parties and opening night events. You’ll get to know our Company Founders and mix with our artists. But mostly, you’ll be part of a company that serves everyone irrespective of the economy, income or age difference, or geographic location.

Box office receipts account for merely a quarter of Shakespeare & Company's annual budget. We count on the help of committed companies, new friends and loyal patrons who recognize the intrinsic value of theatre, education and self-discovery.

The beauty and wonder of productions like Othello, the laughs of The Ladies Man, and the marvels of The Mad Pirate and The Mermaid are simply not possible without support. Members make up the difference. They truly make it happen for everyone! If you’d like to join or renew, visit Shakespeare.org/membership for details. And, yes, you can join online!  Or, call us at 413.637.1199 ext. 105.

We’re glad you were with us this summer, and look forward to seeing you at Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost, opening in September and the 20th Anniversary of the Fall Festival of Shakespeare, happening November 20th-23rd.

Sincerely,

The Artists and Staff
of Shakespeare & Company
