At work:
I'm currently working at the Center for Biological and
Computational Learning on a mathematical theory of the visual cortex
with Tomaso Poggio, Andrea Caponnetto (CityU HK), and Steve Smale (TTI-C).
I'm interested in capital markets. In particular, high-frequency futures/forex
machine trading, statistical arbitrage strategies, and learning market-making
behaviors in both constrained markets and illiquid/inefficient markets.
synths. I used to prefer having a hardware r1g, with lots of
knobs and buttons...but I've been slowly selling off my gear in favor of
a software setup. I'm also trying to sell my Roland TR-808. If you want one
and are prepared to offer a realistic price (check ebay for recent market
prices), let me know.
travel. I like to travel. A lot. My list pales in comparison to some of the
crazies around here (such as this guy), but I'm working on it: Canada, Mexico, Iceland, Norway, England, France, Spain,
Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Egypt, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia,
China, Hong Kong, Macau.
books. I used to read lots of fiction.
But now its mostly non-fiction. Update: I don't have time to read for
fun anymore.
Messed up/scary signs I've seen over the course of my travels.
