I started hacking at circuits back in 2nd grade. I've basically just been learning by doing. Played around with analong and digital stuff for the hell of it in various contexts. I've been meaning to put up some schematics for a long time, but never got around to it. Maybe the fact that there's a page for it now will make me put them up. These are descriptions of some of the projects I've done during my time in college. I'd like to thank all the people that have taught me what I need to know to get each of these to work. List including, but not limited to : alex, mark steve, john, fred, roger, eric, scott and many more. | |
| Electric GoKart | So I made one with a team of freshman, then went on to work on them some more (in a more involved fashion) when I was a seinor. |
| Boost Converter/Inverter | I've found this to be a useful circuit. Takes in 9V and gives you some AC value out (you can set everything). |
| PWM Motor Control | A handy circuit to control motor speed. Uses and HBridge and IRF driver to do efficient control of motor speed. |
| Homemade Stir Plate | A necessity when you drink lots of koolaid. Turns out it's just about as easy to shake up a bottle. Oh well :). |
| Electromagnetic Stir Plate | At one point in time I got really interested in stirplates. I was convinced I could make one that was smaller than what was out there. I came up with this prototype of one that did what a stirplate does, but without the motor (comutates the magnetic field by powering electromagnets). I made a first prototype and got tired of it. |
| Bicycle Light Blinker | Man, this has been sitting on my desk for months now. Basically using the LEDs from a cuecat, along with a 555 to make a square wave for the blinking. Once I get the housing 3d printed, I'll have a nice blinker for when I ride at night. |
| Hand Sculpture | I made this sculpture a few years ago for an art class. I think it looks really cool. This is more for the pictures than the informational content. |
| Flame Thrower | Ha! Or the remains of. An action shot and the carcass afterwords. Made for a robot war we had during rush. Short description. |
| Floppy Drive Controller | This was my part of my 6.111 team project. Our goal was to read images off a floppy disk and display them on a monitor. It didn't work so well for a couple of reasons. Can check this out to learn more. |
