We started in Dublin where we visited, in some vague order the Book of Kells (kept at Trinity College), Dublin Castle (plus the gardens behind it), the Casino Marino (nothing to do with gambling, it's a small historic house), Christ Church Cathedral and St. Patrick's Cathedral. After two days in the city we took a bus down the coast to Rosslare Harbor, a tiny little town without even a pub we could find. Next morning, we took the ferry to Pembroke Dock. Pembroke Dock is next to the little town of Pembroke, highly picturesque, with a huge rambling castle which I enjoyed. We stayed at a great B&B there for one night, then drove to Little Bedwyn, where we stayed with Jer's aunt and uncle, who live right on a fabulous canal.

While there we visited Stonehenge and a nearby somewhat less famous stone circle at Avebury, which had sheep grazing in it. There were a lot of sheep in England. We tried to see a mosaic floor from a Roman villa but it was still covered with straw to protect it from frost.

Next, we drove on into London, where we were quickly overwhelmed by the British Museum (we did stay long enough to see the Rosetta stone) and went back to our hotel to hide a bit. We wandered around downtown London the next morning, seeing the touristy things, including the changing of the guards at horseguards, then made sure to catch the third of the new Dr. Who episodes (we saw the second in Dublin), before getting ready for our flights to various parts the next morning.
