Professor Rohit Karnik Prof. Karnik obtained his PhD from the University of California at Berkeley in 2006, where he studied transport in nanofluidic systems and developed devices for nanofluidic flow control, biosensing, and patterning. He was a postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Prof. Robert Langer (Institute Professor, MIT) from 2006-2007, where he developed microfluidic devices for nanoparticle synthesis and invented a new technique for controlling the transport of cells. He holds a Bachelors degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay), where he was a recipient of the Institute Silver Medal. He joined the department of Mechanical Engineering as Assistant Professor in Fall 2007. Top |

Dr. Minsoung Rhee Minsoung Rhee is currently a postdoctoral associate of the Nanodelivery research group (Dr. Omid Farokzhad) at the Department of Anesthesiology, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and a research affiliate at the departments of Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Laboratories of Institute Prof. Robert Langer and Prof. Rohit Karnik). Minsoung Rhee received his Ph.D. from the department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2008. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the Chemical Engineering department at Seoul National University (Korea). He received three Master's degrees in different fields; M.S. in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University (Stanford, CA), M.S. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan, and M.S. in Bioinformatics at the Medical School of the University of Michigan. |

Dr. Jong-Min Lim Postdoctoral associate (BWH and Koch Institute). Jong-Min obtained his B.S in Chemical Engineering from Sogang University in 2004, and PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from KAIST in 2009. He was a postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Prof. Seung-Man Yang (KAIST) from 2009-2010. Currently, he is working with Prof. Robert Langer (Institute Professor, MIT) and Prof. Omid Farokhzad (BWH) as a postdoctoral associate (2010- present). He joined Prof. Karnik???s group in summer 2010. |

Dr. Sung Young Choi Postdoctoral associate (Dept. of Mechanical Engineering). Sung Young obtained his PhD in Prof. Je-Kyun Park's group at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2009, whre he studied microfluidic separation (hydrophoresis and inertial ordering) and 3D microparticle image velocimetry (mirror-embedded microchannel). He was a postdoctoral associate in the same group from 2009-2010, where he developed microfluidic devices for hydrodynamic study of molecular rheology and channel networks. He joined Prof. Karnik's group in the fall of 2010. |

Pedro M. Valencia Pedro is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Pedro obtained a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007, and was No. 1 of his class. He completed his M.S. in Chemical Engineering Practice from MIT in 2009. He is the recipient of the NSF Graduate Fellowship (2007 - present). Pedro is co-advised by Institute Porfessor Robert Langer and Dr. Omid Farokhzad (Brigham Women's Hospital - Harvard Medical School). |

Marco Cartas Ayala In 2006 Marco graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico with a B.S. in Mechatronics Engineering, with Honours and highest GPA of his department. He completed his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at MIT in 2008. His current research focuses on the development of microfluidic devices that can sort cells based on deformability. He is a recipient of the Mexican National Science and Technology Council Fellowship (CONACYT). |

Sean O'Hern Masters student (Dept. of Mechanical Engineering). Sean obtained his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri - Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) in 2007. Upon graduation, Sean worked for a design/build mechanical contractor in St. Louis, MO, for two years. He joined Prof Karnik's group in the Fall of 2009. |

Tarun Kumar Jain Tarun is a Masters student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT. He received his B.A. with Honors in Physics and Mathematics from NYU (New York University), during which time he did research on the onset of irreversibility in low Reynolds number particle suspensions, magnetic domain formation in soft magnetic ellipses, and the Casimir self-energy of black holes. He was also a recipient of the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. Tarun joined the group in the Fall of 2009. His current research focuses on the development of high performance nanopores for DNA sizing. |
