Prof. Karnik obtained his PhD from the University of California at Berkeley in 2006, where he studied transport in nanofluidic systems and developed devices for nanofluidic flow control, biosensing, and patterning. He was a postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Prof. Robert Langer (Institute Professor, MIT) from 2006-2007, where he developed microfluidic devices for nanoparticle synthesis and invented a new technique for controlling the transport of cells. He holds a Bachelors degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay), where he was a recipient of the Institute Silver Medal. He joined the department of Mechanical Engineering as Assistant Professor in Fall 2007.

PhD student (Dept. of Mechanical Engineering). Jason obtained his B.S in Electrical Engineering at National Taiwan University in 2004 and M.S in Mechanical Engineering at MIT in 2008. He joined Prof. Karnik’s group in summer 2007.  

Suman Bose

PhD student (Dept. of Mechanical Engineering). Suman obtained his B.Tech and M.Tech (Dual Degree) in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (Kharagpur) in 2007 where he received the Institute Silver Medal. He joined Prof. Karnik’s group in Fall 2007.

Pedro Miguel Valencia

PhD student (Dept. of Chemical Engineering). Pedro did his undergraduate studies at University of Wisconsin-Madison where he obtained a B.S Chemical Engineering in 2007. He is the recipient of NSF fellowship (2007 – present). Pedro joined Prof Karnik’s group in fall 2007 and is co-advised by Prof Robert Langer (MIT) and Prof Omid Farokhzad (BWH).

Pamela Basto

PhD student (HST). Pam obtained her B.S in Biomedical Engineering from University of Texas at Austin in 2006. She is the recipient of NSF Fellowship (2006 – present). Pam is advised by Prof. Robert Langer(MIT) and Prof. Omid Farokhzad (BWH).

Mohamed Raafat

PhD student (Dept. of Mechanical Engineering). Mohamed obtained his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Cairo University (Egypt) in 2003 and 2007, respectively. He is the holder of the International Fulbright Science and Technology Award (2007-present). He joined Prof Karnik's group in the Spring of 2008.

Chia-Hua Lee

Jongho Lee
