Engineering antibody-based therapies for targeting the tumor vasculature

Systemically administered therapies are limited by nonspecific toxicity. Here, antibody based therapies are being investigated for specifically targeting the tumor vasculature; by doing so, receptor mediated localization of systemically administered therapeutics in the tumor region is possible. Therefore, this will increase the efficacy of the treatment and lower the system-wide toxicity normally associated with such treatments.
