[Bar Harbor]

Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park is about 5 hours northeast of Boston (driving at 75 miles/hour). Its maybe one of the most beautiful places on the East Coast and its a great place to get lobster.

[Acadia National Park]

Start of Park Loop, Acadia National Park.
A good portion of Acadia National Park is on Mount Desert Island (Also where Bar Harbor is). On the Eastern side of Mount Desert Island, you can drive along "Park Loop" (which does a big loop around the park) and catch some amazing scenery.

Eastern Coastline

Thunder Hole - As the waves crash against the granite, large blocks eventually break loose and chasms underneath the granite walls are formed. When the chasms are formed, inrushing waves capture and compress air in the back producing thundering "booms".

Glacial Freight - When the glaciers receded way back when, they dropped in their tracks great boulders called "erratics". This one was plucked from a granite ledge more than 20 miles to the northwest.

Cadillac Mountain

Cadillac Mountain is the highest point on the Atlantic Coast (1500 ft). You would be the first in the country to see the sun rise on this mountain. King Louis XIV gave this island to Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac for whom it was named and who would later found Detroit.

Frenchman Bay

I stayed at the Holiday Inn, Regency Resort. Pretty fancy place, except for the service.
