Peter Hecht

Peter Hecht has served as Ironwood's (formerly Microbia) chief executive officer since its founding in 1998. In collaboration with the other founders, Hecht has assembled and integrated Ironwood's growing team of industry leading "drug hunters", raised $231 million, and driven the execution of the Company's strategy. Prior to founding Ironwood, he was a research fellow at Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. Hecht earned a B.S. in mathematics and an M.S. in biology from Stanford University, and holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of California at Berkeley. He serves on the boards of directors of Whitehead Institute and Microbia Precision Engineering, Inc. Hecht also serves on the Leadership Council for the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT and the advisory board of Infante Sano.
