The Cell Biology Program is focussed on basic cell biological processes that are critical to tumorigenesis and malignancy. Major themes of this program include: the mechanisms of cell adhesion, cell motility and migration and their connections to invasion and metastasis; signal transduction networks important in mitogenesis, cell growth and response to DNA damage; and stem cell biology.
There are numerous interactions, collaborations and joint grants connecting various members of this program, which represents an evolution of the Program. Drs. Gertler, Hynes, Lauffenburger, Lodish and Matsudaira share interests in various aspects of cell adhesion and migration. The Program also includes Drs. Sabatini, Yaffe and White, who all share collaborations and common interests in signal transduction with Dr. Lauffenburger and Drs. Lodish and Sherley shares interests in stem cell biology with Drs. Jaenisch and Lodish.
