After many years of soul-searching in other states (no pun intended), in 1990 Kip brought his blues to Boston. In an effort to try something different after years of playing solo acoustic and bottleneck style, he started singing with a jump band called the Honking Mallards. "I knew then this was the route I wanted to go. I just got bored playing up there all by myself. Playing with folks and makin' a tune come alive is what feels good to me." In 1994 Kip started a 4-piece jump band called The Howling Canine Band. This band had success showcasing at venues like the House of Blues and Mama Kins. At the end of 1997 Kip was ready to release his debut album Jump City. The name was so popular, the band adopted it as their own.
You can catch Jump
City playing gigs all over the Boston, New Hampshire, and Rhode
