KLPR for OS X 10.3 (Panther)

A kerberized printing solution for OS X is now available. This software is unsupported by IS&T and is offered as a convenience only. It may disappear at any time without notice. This software is only likely to work on computers connected directly to MITnet. This software will not work behind a NAT or firewall device.

Kerberos Extras must be installed for this software to work. You can obtain it from MIT Software Distribution

Due to a known bug with Kerberos, this software will not work with MacOS X 10.2 (Jaguar) or earlier.

Installation instructions, download links, and technical details are available via the links on the left.

Intel Mac Users This software will not work on Intel Macs. I am working on an updated version.

Preview.app bug With Preview.app 3.0 (which shipped with Tiger (10.4) and higher, if you are printing an image (PNG, JPEG, TIFF, etc), and choose "Print", you will get a special printer dialog which will not obtain Kerberos tickets for you. You need to click the "Advanced" button, and then print. Unfortunately, due to the way the printing extension is implemented, there is no other workaround.

Tiger (10.4) users: This software has not been fully tested with Tiger. Preliminary testing suggests that it works, but there may be bugs. We do not recommend you install this software on mission-critical machines (machines that contain your thesis, for example). This software is unsupported by IS&T. If you still wish to test this software on Tiger (10.4), see the installation instructions here.

This allows a user to check the remote print queue.

Cluster Status

This allows a user to view usage information for Athena printers and clusters.
