the action- winthrop park

This big oak tree anchors Winthrop Park. It probably dates back to the 19th Century when the space was made a park.

Most of the activity in Winthrop Park is fairly mellow. People are found in pairs and singles. The majority stay for a relatively short time, drinking coffee, eating or just pausing in between. Sometimes quiet, solo musicians come here, but this is not a principle performance space.

At night, the park is mostly deserted. Occasionally street people stretch out on the benches.
