Welcome to the 8th US-Japan Symposium
on Drug Delivery Systems.
The 8th US-Japan Symposium on Drug
Delivery Systems is co-sponsored by the
Controlled Release
Society, the
Japanese Society of Drug Delivery Systems, the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and
Kyoto
University.
The symposium offers presentations by researchers from a number
of disciplines, from the life sciences to engineering, who will
address a range of topics including peptide and protein
delivery, gene delivery, cell delivery, vaccines, transdermals,
pulmonary delivery, new materials, and other subjects, from
varied disciplines while focusing on the central theme of drug
delivery. The Symposium offers a unique opportunity for
interaction and networking among attendees from academia and
industry.
History
The US-Japan Symposium is typically held every other year, during the current decade
we expect to hold the conference on each odd-numbered year: 2007, 2009,
2011.
Past Symposiums were held in: 2005, 2003, 2001, 1999, 1997, 1995, 1993, 1991. Updates and

Plenary Session
The plenary session features presentations from academic and industrial leaders in the
drug delivery field. The hallmark of the Symposia are the scientific discussions and
questions which are addressed during the Plenary and Poster Sessions.
The Symposia also provides extensive opportunities for academic and business discussions,
networking, and negotiations that begin at the conference site and continue long after
the meeting.
Poster Session
Call for Abstracts - due November 1, 2005
There will be a Poster Session throughout the meeting and researchers are invited to
present their latest findings in this forum . Abstracts are due at MIT on
November 1, 2005. Acceptance into the Poster Session provides an the opportunity for
being selected to give a 5 minute evening presentation at the conference
(followed by 5 minutes of Questions and Answers). Those
wishing to contribute a poster should refer to the guidelines and complete a submission
form on the abstract page of this website.
Hotel Reservations
Rooms have been blocked at The Westin Maui on Ka'anapali Beach, outside of
Lahaina, Hawaii on the beautiful island of Maui. Reservations at the special conference
rates must be received by November
25, 2005. Please
book early to obtain this special rate, it is offered at a first come, first served
basis.
Registration
Early Registration deadline - October 1, 2005
The Symposium registration will be held Sunday, December 18,
2005, from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at the Westin Maui. An additional
registration will be held on Monday, December 19, 2005, from
7:00 - 8:00 am. You are also invited to
the Welcome Reception on Sunday, December 18, 2005, from 6:00 -
7:00pm at the Westin Maui. The Symposium ends on Friday,
December 23, 2005, at about 12:00 pm. (noon).
The prepaid registration fee
is $550.00 US Dollars if paid by October 1, 2005, on or after
October 2, 2005 the fee is $595.00. There are a limited number
of spaces; early registration is recommended. Registration must
be done by email, fax, or mail. Registrations will not be taken
by phone.
Meeting registration includes access to all sessions, the
Welcome Reception, breaks, and receipt of one Abstract Book
per registrant. Most sessions
will be held in the mornings and evenings, with afternoons free.
Payment Options
Registration must be paid in US dollars drawn on a US bank.
American Express, MasterCard, and VISA credit cards may be used
for payment. Registration by check may be used on mail or
on-site registrations only. Payment must accompany registration
form.
Payment vouchers or purchase orders will not be considered as
payment. Registration forms received without payment will not be
processed.
Official Language
English is the official language of the symposium.
Dress Code
Business casual is the recommended dress for the meeting.
