We'll discuss all kinds of issues such as... flirting; how do you know if she/he/genderqueer is straight/interested?; what do you do once you've asked someone out?; communication; trust; intimacy; sex; reading signals; gaining confidence; inter-racial/ethnic dating; class issues; overcoming shyness; healthy boundaries, and anything else you can think of!  All genders and sexual identities welcome :)


MIT Writers Series: Dorothy Allison

Proclaimed "one of the finest writers of her generation" by the Boston Globe and "simply stunning" by the New York Times Book Review, Allison is the author of "Bastard Out of Carolina," winner of both the Ferro Grumley and Bay Area Book Reviewers Awards for fiction (adapted to film and directed by Angelica Huston in 1996), and "Cavedweller, "winner of the 1998 Lambda Literary Award for fiction (currently being adapted for the stage by Kate Ryan).

Dorothy Allison's small press books include Skin: Talking About Sex, Class and Literature (1995), a collection of Allison's essays, speeches and performance pieces which won the 1995 American Library Association Gay and Lesbian Book Award, and Trash, a collection of short stories (1989) which won Lambda Literary Awards for Lesbian Fiction and Lesbian Small Press Book. She has published two editions of poetry, both titled The Women Who Hate Me-the first in 1983 by Long Haul Press and the expanded 1990 edition by Firebrand. The poetry chapbook has been continuously in print for more than twelve years.

True Colors Out Youth Theater presents an honest portrayal of the lives of GLBTQ youth and their allies ages 14 to 22. The troupe addresses issues of homophobia and societal oppression in the context of the personal and social empowerment of GLBTQ youth and their allies. We have made it our mission to encourage troupe members as
artists and community activists, and to establish a creative outlet where they can develop the skills needed to make their voices heard and become agents of positive social change.


LBGTQ SUPPORT GROUP

Looking for a safe place to talk about your sexual identity? Have questions about coming out to yourself or others? Feeling isolated and looking for connection?

LBGTQ is a support group for students (undergrad and grads) who are looking for a safe and confidential space to discuss issues related to their sexual identity.
