The Rainbow Reception: A Celebration of MIT's LBGT Community

October 8, 2003, 4:00pm - 6:00pm Talbot Lounge, East Campus (Bldg. 62)

Held annually, the reception is the premier LBGT event of the fall term. Please join us as we work together to build a stronger, safer community through convesation, refreshments, and, of course, a little fun. This year's reception will feature a preview of the exhibit "Being LBGT and at MIT. The full invitation is attached - we encourage you to post the invite in your lab, office, or residence to encourage others to attend. See you there!


Being LBGT and at MIT: A Collection of Photographs

October 9, 2003, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm in Lobby 10 (with a special sneak preview at the Rainbow Reception!)

The Collection has been created both to raise awareness on campus and to provide an opportunity for MIT's LBGT community to celebrate. We hope that this exhibition of the collection will serve as an opportunity for the MIT community to share in our experiences and to reflect upon the role played by society, diversity, and community in each of our lives.

Queer Women and Friends Dinner before Margaret Cho (by QWiLLTS)

October 3, 2003, 6:30pm - 7:30pm

LBGT and Questioning Student Support Groups

Bi-weekly discussions on topics students want to talk about. Support and discussions for all LBGT and questioning undergraduates and graduate students - not just for coming out. Safe and confidential!

* First Monday of each month in the fall term from 12-1:30 pm (next one is October 6, 2003)

Emily Meghan Morrow Howe from Women's Studies and Peter Kassel from the Mental Health Service of MIT Medical will facilitate a drop-in brown bag lunch.

* Third Tuesday of each month in the fall term from 7-8:30 pm (next one is October 21, 2003)

Travis Wright and Chandra Mincher from Student Life Programs will facilitate a focused, topic-based support group. It is asked that individuals plan to stay for the full session.

Visit the Rainbow Lounge

Located on the 3rd floor of Walker Memorial (50-306), the Rainbow Lounge provides meeting and office space for all LBGT groups on MIT's campus and serves as the hub for MIT's LBGT campus life. Complete with a new shipment of videos and books on every imaginable LBGT concern-as well as a large tv, a VCR/DVD player, a brand new radio, and food, the Resource Center offers something for everyone. Come by to check out the resources of just to hang out.

The Rainbow Lounge will be open during the following hours this semester:

Tuesdays from 4:30-9pm
Thursdays from 1-7pm
Fridays from 12-3pm

** Be sure to stop by the lounge on Fridays from 12-1pm for a drop-in brown bag lunch social hour. Grab some food and come upstairs for food, fun, and conversation.

Rainbow Coffeehouse Pool Night

Queer Women in Academia: Dinner and Discussion

GABLES Lunch

GABLES is the M.I.T. LBGT staff & faculty group. The lunch is an opportunity for us to gather in a social environment to meet and greet one another.
