HANGING OUT
Generally,
there are three areas of the city where many of the LBGT friendly services
and hangouts are located. The South End is Boston's "gay ghetto,"
though the dominant crowd is gay male. To explore the South End,
start at the corner of Union Park and Tremont Street in Boston, an easy
walk from the Back Bay T Stop (Orange Line). Davis Square in Somerville,
right on the Red Line, has recently come of age and is drawing a progressive
crowd. Finally, racially diverse Jamaica Plain is quite LBGT-friendly,
especially for lesbian women. To explore Jamaica Plain, start
at the Midway Cafe.
In
addition, if you are looking to get out of the city, Ogunquit,
Maine and Provincetown, Massachusetts
are the local LBGT resort towns; especially in the summer, Provincetown
becomes the place to be in New England if you are LBGT.
