LEM Student Steering Committee

Joel Abrahamson G -- President
Joela at mit dot edu

I'm a third year PhD student in chemical engineering originally hailing from North Dakota. To avoid spending all my time in the lab, I like to sing, play piano, run, and make (and eat!) delicious food. For me, LEM is a great place to meet fascinating people, to relax, to make (and eat!) delicious food, and learn about God in new and exciting ways.

I'm a graduate student in biological engineering and this in August I married the most generous man named John. I grew up in Iowa and received my BS and MS in biomedical engineering at The University of Iowa.

I'm starting my fifth year as a grad student in Mechanical Engineering, aiming for a PhD. My research is about ice cream and carbon dioxide, which makes it easy to talk about. In addition to freezing things, I like to sing, walk by the river and explore places accessible by public transportation.

I treasure LEM because here I find comfort, support, creative ideas, a respite, a connection to the world, and people to share with when all I can think is "Why?"

I'm a junior majoring in physics and minoring in music. When I'm not finishing a quantum physics pset or trying to figure out what goes on in the material that collects around black holes, you can find me playing saxophone in the MIT Wind Ensemble or singing "Shine, Jesus, Shine" with LEM's unofficial choir. I love LEM because it is a place to come to rest from the frantic pace of life at MIT and reflect on what really matters in life.

I'm a Ph.D. candidate in Biological Chemistry, and I am currently the LEM historian. Through LEM, I have had the opportunity to meet and worship with friends, family, and friends who've become family. It's good stuff. I invite you to share in the awesomeness.

Katie is a junior at MIT majoring in environmental engineering and hoping to save the world some day. In the meantime, she keeps herself busy by nurturing her interest in music, her love of God, and her affection for small animals.
