FlexCap will
not install on my machine.
This
release of FlexCap only supports Windows 95 and
Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 2 or greater. The
application will never run on Windows 3.1 and Windows
for Workgroups 3.11, or on any Alpha, MIPS, or
PowerPC-based systems of Windows NT. The installation
program attempts to make sure you have an operating
system with the correct version and service pack
before proceeding; if you notice any discrepancies,
please let us know.
The
installation program asked me to reboot. After
rebooting, FlexCap 1.1 did not work.
If
the installation program asks you to reboot, you must
reboot your system and then re-run the
installation program. If this does not happen
automatically whe you reboot, then you will have to
manually re-run the installation program, as if you
were running it for the first time.
Why
you may ask? Parts of the installation require the
presence of certain recent system files; if those
files on your system are older than the versions that
are required, the installation program must install
them. This may necessitate restarting your system if
the files had been in use, because Windows may not be
able to over-write in-use files. Before the
installation proceeds, then, it installs these files
if necessary, and asks you to reboot if necessary.
Hence, the installation is not finished, and
must be re-run. When it is re-run, the system files
will be up to date and it will not have to install
them, and the installation should work.
If
after rebooting and re-running the installation
program, the FlexCap application still does not work,
then please send an email to lfmrg3-www@mit.edu with your
problems.
