Subsequent to the open posting of this book in April 2001,
more than 113,000 downloads have been reported. At an average
redundancy rate of 20%, this amounts to some 90,000
unique readers (as of December 2005).  The download rate has
generally averaged between 2000 and 2500 copies per month. 

The text has been downloaded to more than 150 countries on 
six continents (see below).  It has been adopted as a classroom
textbook at dozens of universities worldwide.

The countries listed are derived from user reports; however, 
based upon our correspondence with many of those users, 
we believe the reported countries to be almost entirely 
accurate. About 70% of the reported countries have been validated
through server logs of the primary domain suffix; those
logs are, of course, blind to the origins of most .com addresses
such as hotmail and yahoo.  All but a handful of the countries
listed have had many downloads.
