The Syntax-Semantics Reading Group is a weekly discussion group on syntax, semantics and their interface.
Meetings this semester are on Wednesdays from 3PM - 4:30PM in room 26-310 unless otherwise noted.
Meetings and changes in the schedule are announced by email to interested people. If you want to receive the email announcements, want to present something, give a practice talk, or have any other comments about the Syntax-Semantics Reading Group, email lf-reading-group-request@mit.edu. Feel free to suggest a reading you would like to present or see presented.
Patrick Grosz will lead an informal discussion on Chris Potts' "The Logic of Conventional Implicatures".
Luka Crnic and Tue Trinh (at 3:00), and Jacopo Romoli and Yasutada Sudo (at 4:30) will give practice talks for Sinn und Bedeutung 13.
Luka Crnic will lead a discussion of Chris Kennedy's work. Readings: Vagueness and Grammar (L&P, 2007) and Modes of Comparison (CLS, 2008). (Reading the papers is not a prerequisite to attend.)
Jeremy Hartman will lead a discussion of Phillipe Schlenker's Expressive Presuppositions. (Reading the paper is not a prerequisite to attend.)
TBA will lead a discussion on Ora Matushansky's work.
