BE.109 | Bioengineering Project Lab I

This class was completely fantastic. It was a lot of work, with a quiz each class, a homework assignment for each class, 4 major projects/speeches, and 10 hours of class time per week. But working with some of the greatest minds in bioengineering today (Drew Endy, Natalie Kuldell, Angela Belcher and Bevin Engelward) was, possibly, an unmatched experience. After my summer UROP in the Endy lab, I realize that they really *did* teach me most of the major wet lab skills I needed to know.

7.05 | Biochemistry

I was SO in to this class. So in to it, in fact, that I voluntarily made color-coded study sheets and murals about what I was learning, which I intend to paint on pika's walls. I liked all 3 professors (Brown, Bartel, Yaffe), and I learned a ton. There is rarely a meal that goes by without me spouting something about the carbon source in our pasta these days...

BE.320 | Biokinetics

This was my least favorite class, and I still liked it, which says a lot about my curriculum this semester. I liked the math, and I liked the fact that we were learning cutting-edge techniques, but it was difficult to feel supported in this class because there was no textbook, and half the stuff we learned about was invented 6 months ago and therefore few people really understand it well enough to teach it.... The first professor, Forest White, was good by very dry and a little boring. The second was Doug Lauffenburger, head of Course 20, and he was fantastic. He once held 8 hours of office hours 2 days in a row. I totally reccommend taking any of his classes.

BE.180 | Programming

I loved this class! It totally got me in to coding in python, and made me realize how perfect the bioengineering major is for me! I actually did the homework for this class for *fun*...

21M.301 | Harmony and Counterpoint

Very useful. I was a little irked by the fact that when you compose music in this class, you have to be formulaic instead of creative, but all in all I learned musical skills I definitely didn't have before, I got much better at the piano, I got in to songwriting because I understand chord structure now, and I wrote a chorale.

1.016 | Terrascope UTF

I love Terrascope:)

21M.421 | MITSO

Mahler 7. The kind of piece where you feel your bones shaking. Worth every minute.
