MIT SEMINAR SERIES IN MANUFACTURING AND
PRODUCTIVITY
Place: Room 35-225 Time: 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2005
Director of Manufacturing Systems Research, General Motors
In the last 100 years, the automotive manufacturing paradigm has moved from that of a craft industry to interchangeable parts to the assembly line to lean manufacturing. The next paradigm is all about real time optimization of manufacturing systems and builds upon the foundation of lean. The key enablers are pervasive, low-cost sensing, device intelligence, communications, servo-actuation and simulation/visualization.
