LMP 30th Anniversary

The Laboratory for Manufacturing and productivity has been a vital part of MIT and the manufacturing world since its inception in 1977. Over the years, the LMP has made significant contributions to the science and practice of manufacturing. More than 700 students have worked with the laboratory on these projects, and many of them have gone on to become industry leaders.

To celebrate this landmark anniversary, the LMP hosted several special events during the second annual MIT Manufacturing Summit, held September 27-28th, 2007. The Summit is a two-day conference that brings together speakers from academia and industry to discuss topics of interest to the entire manufacturing world. You can view materials and presentations from the Summit online.

The theme of 2006's Manufacturing Summit, held on April 27-28th, was "Manufacturing Research and Education in the Global Economy." The event featured over a dozen speakers from prominent companies and centers. Event proceedings and selected presentation notes are available online.

If you would like more information, or are interested in participating in Alumni event coordination or helping to support the ongoing efforts of the LMP to develop the manufacturing techniques and industry leaders of tomorrow, please contact us.
