LABORATORY FOR NUCLEAR SCIENCE
MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Job number: 10332
The Heavy-Ion Group at the MIT Laboratory of Nuclear Science invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. Our group has a leading role in QCD studies in PbPb, pp and pPb collisions with the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics and preferably a background in nuclear physics or high energy physics. The successful candidate will play a major role in CMS heavy-ion data taking and in the analysis of PbPb, pp and pPb data. Detector responsibilities of our group are focused on the CMS inner silicon tracker and the Level-1 and High-Level trigger systems. We also operate a CMS Tier-2 computing facility at MIT. Consequently, a strong background in silicon detector technology, trigger development or software development and large-scale computing is desirable.
Screening of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled. Interested candidates should submit curriculum vitae and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to:
