Welcome to the MIT Student Locksmithing Association

We are a group of students and alums who share a mutual interest in locks and security systems. We exist to provide education and services to members of the MIT community, and to educate our members in the practice of locksmithing.

Resources generated by us

We plan on offering lock re-pinning services to MIT affiliates, pending purchase of a new key cutting machine.

One of our members got bored one day and made a model of a mortise cylinder in SolidWorks. The zipped ParaSolid file is available for your consumption.

Sometime soon we will also be posting some of our work up on this page. Project one will be an explanation of how sidebar locks work (Schlage, Medeco, ASSA). Project two will probably be a look at pin tumbler locks in general.
