Red Finned Borleyi

(Copadichromis borleyi)

Grimya

Copadichromis borleyi

This is Grimya, my male red fin Borleyi. I find his common name amusing, because neither the females nor the males have red fins.

Grimya is the largest fish in the tank. I think he is lonely though because there are no other fish even closely related to him.

This is a bizarre picture I got by accident. It's sort of artsy with the water bubbles.

Copadichromis borleyi

Here is a picture of Grimya from before he changed color. This is the normal coloration of females and juvenile males. I didn't know what gender he was until recently, which is why he has a female name!

Here is an example of the normal cruising posture for a cichlid with fins smooshed down. Here Grimya is trying to get away so I don't get a picture of him. You lose!

Copadichromis borleyi

Here is a lovely photo of his not-so-red fins.

Once again, Grimya is challenging the camera. Poof! Fins!

Actually it's probably more like "Eek! A flash of light! I must appear large so as to frighten it away!"
