Rick Altman Rick Altman is best known for his work on genre theory, the musical, media sound, and video pedagogy. His new book Film/Genre will be published in March by the British Film Institute. His latest project, The Living Nickelodeon, has entertained and instructed audiences from Iowa City to Melbourne. He has taught at Wesleyan University, Bryn Mawr College, Middlebury College, the University of Paris, and the University of Iowa, where for 25 years he has held appointments (in various combinations) in French, Comparative Literature, and Communication Studies.
