1st Annual Science Extravaganza

Saturday March 6th, 2010

Science Extravaganza is an all day, hands-on experience that gives middle and high school students the opportunity to participate in a diverse set of workshops and lab experiments.

Through their participation in the Science Extravaganza students will be introduced to the many science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields available. They will interact with MIT students and have the opportunity to tour MIT's world renowned research facilities.

The event will begin promptly at 9 a.m. and will be held in La Sala de Puerto Rico located on the second floor of the Stratton Student Center (84 Massachusetts Avenue). In order to get directions to the event please go here. Food will be provided at the event, along with giveaways donated by our event sponsors.

How to Participate

This event is open to the public at no cost. However, students that would like to participate must complete a Liability Waiver which can be found here. A Spanish version can be reached here.The completed waiver must be submitted to the MIT Chapter of MAES before or on the day of the event, otherwise students will not be able to participate.

Event participants can use the MIT West Parking garage, located on 125 Vassar Street. Please note that there is a $5 parking fee associated for parking at this garage. Other public parking facilities located around the MIT campus are found at:

    5 Cambridge Center, East Garage (Ames St./Broadway)
    7 Cambridge Center, West Garage (Ames St./Galileo Way)

How to Volunteer

If you are interested in volunteering for the event, you can sign up here. Both students and professionals are welcomed to volunteer. You can sign up to volunteer for the whole day, or the times of day you are available. The information that is requested will be used to contact you regarding this event and will be kept confidential.
