ACADEMIC GAMES

The Massachusetts Academic Games League of America (MAGLOA) will play five Academic Games competitions: EQUATIONS, ON-SETS, LINGUISHTIK, PROPAGANDA, and PRESIDENTS.  The Equations, On-Sets, and LinguiSHTIK games require a kit in which cubes are rolled and played on a board.  Presidents and Propaganda involve students answering questions read by a central reader.

Mathematics, language arts, and social studies are the fundamental focuses for the games. Students often learn and employ important concepts in these subjects before they are learned in school. In addition to simply applying knowledge, strategic, accurate, and quick thinking is a key factor in doing well in each of the Academic Games competitions. Just knowing the subject matter is not enough to master the games. Students must also develop audacity, integrity, and composure in applying their knowledge while competing against opponents.
