HISTORY:
Early in the 2007-08 academic year, the Academic Games League of America (AGLOA), which is the national organization that oversees the recognition and accreditation of regional Academic Games competitions and leagues, gave Bao Tran, an MIT Undergraduate, permission to start a Massachusetts Academic Games League of America (MAGLOA). MAGOLA is now run by its director and assistant director, Bao Tran and Renaldo Webb, and other collegiate volunteers.
Bao Tran and Renaldo Webb are both undergraduates at MIT who attended middle and high school together in New Orleans, LA. They both played Academic Games for the Jefferson Parish team. Tran and Webb have in the past received numerous awards as individuals and teams at the regional and national Academic Games competitions. In fact, Bao Tran was a member of the 2005 National Sweepstakes Overall 1st Place Team. They enjoyed their experiences playing the games so much that they have teamed up to share it with students in Massachusetts. They hope to install the same passion for learning and academic competing in others that they experienced years earlier.
