SPOTLIGHT
Victoria
Conrad
My name is
Victoria Conrad. I am a junior at Boston Collegiate Charter School.
I have Cerebral Palsy. Having a disability has made me a strong
person. Taking part in Academic Games has allowed me to prove to
myself, my peers and others that people with disabilities can do
anything that they set their minds to. As far as I know, Academic
Games has never had a person with my disability playing before. It
makes me really proud to know that I am able to have a strong impact
on people through competing.
In Academic Games, my favorite game is “Propaganda.” This game has
introduced me to a new way of understanding and interpreting
languages and techniques of persuasions.
Another game that I have enjoyed playing is “Equations.” Equations has allowed me to expand my way of thinking in regards to math and algebra problems. This game helps players think quicker and force them to act on impulse. Personally, it has challenged me to think outside the box.
All of these
games have allowed my team members and me to expand our minds in
ways we never thought that they could.
I am excited to be able to compete at the state and hopefully
national level in the coming weeks. Overall, Academic Games is
beginning to shape me as a person. It has allowed me to make friends
with those who have a lot of the same interests as I do. I am really
glad that I had the opportunity to join. I don’t know what I would
do without the help of all my coaches.
For those of you who are thinking of joining Academic Games or
wanting to find ways to help us out, I’d say “Please do.”
