The Band at Men's Water Polo, Fall 2005
Ahh...winter. When the birds and the old-folks go south, we find shelter in the temperate climes of the Z-Center Pool: here you see us at a Men's Water Polo game.

We had no idea how water polo is played, and neither did the people sitting next to us. But, who can argue with a bunch of hot, wet men splashing around in the water!

Plus that day we joined the elite ranks of marching bands who have played the theme from "JAWS" at an aquatic sporting event!

One day when we returned, cold and hungry, to the Student Center after an event, there was a huge free food event just opening up (we

assumed it was fo us).

There was barbecued pulled pork and chicken, along with bread, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad.

Given the circumstances, we had no choice but to dig in!

FREE FOOD!!!

We carried the BBQ Booty back to our Secret Hideout on the fourth floor, where we held an impromptu Parrrrty.

In general, we have great luck with acquiring free food. In fact, the majority of our social events come to us at no cost.

Marching Band on Ice!

And here we are at a Men's Hockey Game, better known as Marching Band on Ice!

Between the second and third periods we played a show in the middle of the rink: "Olympic Fanfare" (the Torino Games had just started), "Ruber Duckie", and "W.A.T.E."

The man in front is sweeping up a fleet of paper airplanes that the crowd had just thrown from the stands, aiming for the center circle.

This event brought us at least two Marchin Band firsts. Obviously, this was our first field show on ice, but also we became the first marching band to be honked at menacingly by an impatient Zamboni driver!      Spring 2006

Hurray! New mellophone!

Now our mellophone section leader
will actually have a section to lead!

William Tell pi lyrics
Michael found this short musical cheer based on the William Tell Overture, but the given lyrics were generically lame (Go team, go! Fight team, Fight! et cetera). So, we thought we should come up with a nerdy MIT-style text.

[Enter pi]

It tuns out that if you set the first 26 digits of pi to this rhythm, it even rhymes! (BTW like three of us could just spout off these digits...we are such nerds!)

Here are the new lyrics written on the whiteboard in our office.

After intense negotiotiations, His Honor the Ambassador to the Cheerleaders has reached an accord with the Cheerleaders about the spreading of legs...

...and from the looks of it, we came out ahead!
