Policy for Adding or
Dropping Members
Massachusetts
Space Grant Consortium (MASGC) requires an institution
wishing to become a member to contact the MASGC management
for informal discussions and a meeting. This is followed
up with a letter from the provost or leading official
of the institution with reasons for joining the Consortium
and identification of the institution’s representative
to the Consortium. These generally are:
· Professors in space related education or research
for colleges and universities
· Senior officials engaged in education or outreach
at other institutions
(See duties of representatives below).
The request to join is approved by MASGC management and
by the existing members, following which the institution
is sent an official letter of admission.
If
an institution wishes to terminate its relations with
MASGC, it should send a letter from the representative
and the provost or leading official of the institution
explaining the reason for leaving the consortium. This
has not happened in the MASGC’s 15-year history,
although representatives from member institutions have
changed on occasion.
Duties
of Member Representatives
ALL
members must attend at least one of the Consortium’s
bi-annual meetings in person or by telephone call-in,

is necessary so that consortium members continue to provide
input and participate in Space Grant activities.
