Steel Cap
When compaction of the earth was complete, the forms were removed and a continuous cap of weathering steel was installed in sections using a forklift. The cap rests on the top of the wall, overhanging several inches on each side to keep direct precipitation from the wall. The presence of an impervious cap overhanging both sides of a rammed earth wall should be considered mandatory for all applications in New England.
